PayGo Energy

PayGo Energy

PayGo Energy provides clean, fast and affordable cooking gas to people living in slums in Nairobi, Kenya. PayGo’s smart gas meter notifies the back office as soon as a customer is low on cooking gas. An agent then goes to the customer’s house with a full gas cylinder before the customer runs out. PayGo needed a digital system to facilitate this process.

I designed a mobile app for the agents and an online dashboard for the managers. The main challenge was to come up with a solution to the specific difficulties that employees encounter while working in a slum. For example: how do¬† you find a customer’s house if the house has no address? And how do you make sure the app still functions if there’s no internet connection? By doing several user tests I made sure the app and dashboard are super user friendly and support the employees in their daily work.
